FAQ'S

We aim to make booking a sailing holiday straight forward and are happy to assist in any way. Please see below to see some of the common questions that we are asked.

  • Can I sail without a captain?

If you hold the required qualifications that the yacht operator requires then yes. This is usually a Day Skipper, ICC or equivalent ticket. Contact us if you are unsure.

  • Can we have more information on the sailing destination we are interested in?

Please contact us on the online chat we would be happy to assist. If you have already booked your yacht, we will put you in touch with the yacht operator who can provide further details.

  • Can I learn to sail on my holiday?

Of course you can, but only a handful of yacht operators will be licensed to give qualifications.

  • What is the difference between bareboat and crewed charter?

A crewed yacht has a permanent crew on board. Bareboat charter is usually the customer sailing the yacht them self although you can hire additional crew on a bareboat charter.

  • Do you offer skipper insurance?

We do not offer this service, however many of our clients have shared the names of the companies they have used. Once you have booked with us you will receive this information via email.

  • Do you arrange travel to the yacht?

We do not organise air travel. The yacht operator usually offers a taxi service as well as additional services such as a provisioning service.

  • We would like to do something exciting before or after our holiday, can you help?

Yes, we partner with some of the best tour operators around the globe that will ensure you have an extra special holiday around your yacht charter.

  • Should we tip our crew and if so how much?

The simple answer is yes but as with most of the world tipping is always optional. It is not abnormal for a customer to tip 10% of their charter cost if their crew were beyond amazing. When you make a booking with us this is some of the additional information that we will provide for you.

  • Can I cancel my charter?

We will do our best to try and postpone the charter. The cancellation terms will be clear on the contract that you are given to sign, before you pay the deposit. We always recommend taking out holiday insurance as soon as you have booked your charter.

  • Do you offer flotilla holidays or cabin charters?

Yes we offer both of these, they are great way to meet other families and likeminded people. Flotilla's are also perfect for newly qualified skippers or to gain qualifications along your holiday without it feeling like work.

  • Why are your charters listed in Euros?

This is the currency that most international charter operators accept and has become the industry standard. However in some cases it is possible to pay in your home currency if the charter operator has an office in your country.

  • How is payment taken?

We use a company called, Wise (TransferWise), whom have great exchange rates and in most cases are dramatically cheaper than using your bank for the transaction. The customer is responsible for bank fees to our business account.
